• 7 January 2010 - Boston signs free agent third baseman Adrian Beltre for one year at $9 million with an option for a second year, which he declines following the 2010 season.
• 11 April 2010 - Red Sox left fielder Jacoby Ellsbury fractures his ribs in a collision with third baseman Adrian Beltre while in pursuit of a foul ball in Kansas City. The injury limited Ellsbury, who stole 70 bases in 2009 to lead the majors in that category, to just 18 games in 2010.
• 26 May 2010 - Third baseman Adrian Beltre goes 4-for-5 with a triple, two home runs, and 6 RBI in an 11-3 Red Sox win over the Rays in Tampa Bay.
