- In the 2006 Eastern League Championship Series, the Oregon State product went 7-for-23 (.304) for Portland in the Sea Dogs' 5-game series win over Akron. For the playoffs, he started and batted leadoff in all 9 of Portland's playoff games, batting .282 (11-for-39) with a home run, 6 RBI and 8 runs scored.
- Ellsbury made his Boston debut on 30 June 2007, going 1-for-4 with a single; in six games before being sent back down a week later, he batted 6-for-16 (.375) with one RBI.
- Called up for good on 01 September after a one-game appearance in mid-August, Ellsbury batted .361 in September with three home runs, 17 RBI, and 16 runs scored. He also enjoyed a 13-game hit streak to start the month and safely hit in 23-of-26 games.
