More about Curt Schilling
- Schilling finally got the chance to pitch for the club that drafted him in 1986 when he made his debut in 2004 for the Red Sox in Baltimore. In between that time, he was traded to the Orioles along with Brady Anderson in 1988 for Mike Boddicker and spent 16 seasons, beginning in 1990, playing for Baltimore, Houston, Philadelphia, and Arizona.
- Schilling won 21 games as a starter in 2004 to lead Major League Baseball in that category while posting an ERA of 3.26, second in the American League only to Minnesota pitcher Johan Santana. Schilling ended up finishing second in voting for the AL Cy Young award, the third time he has finished second and the fourth time he has been in the running for that honor.
- Schilling became the first pitcher to win World Series starts for three different ball clubs: Philadelphia in 1993, Arizona in 2001, and Boston in 2004. As a pitcher for Philadelphia in 1993, he won MVP honors in the National League Championship Series; in the same role in with Arizona in 2001, he shared MVP honors with Arizona teammate Randy Johnson.
- On 27 May 2006, Schilling earned the 200th win of his career in a 6-4 win over Tampa Bay, going seven innings and allowing all four runs on eight hits while striking out seven.
- Schilling was limited to just 24 starts in 2007 due to mid-season right shoulder tendinitis than kept him out between mid-June and early August but was again a factor in Boston's post-season success, winning three games in four starts with a 3.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts.
- Schilling prides himself in being active in the community, donating much of his time and money to causes such as ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and melanoma (skin cancer) awareness along with his wife Shonda, a melanoma survivor.
