- Picked second in the first round of the 1999 amateur draft, Beckett quickly rose through the farm system and was a September call-up in 2001, going 2-2 in four starts with a 1.50 ERA.
- Beckett was an integral part of the 2003 Florida Marlins club that won an improbable World Series title against the New York Yankees. Up three games to two and given the ball for Game Six, the young ace shut out the Bronx Bombers on five hits and earned series MVP honors.
- In his first season with Boston (2006), Beckett won a career-high 16 games and eclisped the 200-inning mark for the first time in his career, though he also allowed 36 home runs, tied for second among major league pitchers in 2006.
- In 2007, Beckett won his first seven starts and his first nine decisions; he ended the season with a record of 20-7 as a starter to became the Major's first 20-game winner in two years and the first for Boston since teammate Curt Schilling won 21 in 2004. He also was the winning pitcher in the 2007 All-Star Game in San Francisco thanks to two innings of scoreless relief.
- In his first post-season with Boston, Beckett was solid, pitching a complete-game shutout in Game One of the ALDS versus the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and earning ALCS MVP honors with two wins in two starts against the Cleveland Indians. He also won Game One of the World Series versus the Colorado Rockies to finish the post-season with a 4-0 record, a 1.20 ERA, and 35 strikeouts with just two walks allowed.
