Memorable Moments for Trot Nixon

  • 3 June 1993 - With their first pick, Boston selects Trot Nixon, a high school player from North Carolina, in the first round of the amateur draft.
  • 28 May 2000 - In a duel between two great pitchers, Pedro Martinez out-duels Roger Clemens 2-0 as both pitchers go the distance at Yankee Stadium. Trot Nixon accounts for the only runs with a ninth inning, two-out, two-run home run with Jeff Fyre at first.
  • 4 October 2003 - Trot Nixon hits a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the 11th inning as Boston wins 3-1 over Oakland in Game Three of the division series at Fenway Park, averting a sweep by the Athletics.
  • 27 October 2004 - With a lunar eclipse occurring simultaneously, Boston shuts out St. Louis 3-0 and sweeps the Cardinals in four games for the first Red Sox World Series win in 86 years. Johnny Damon leads off the game with a home run, Trot Nixon adds two more with a double, and Derek Lowe goes seven strong to become the first pitcher in Major League Baseball history to win the deciding game of all three series in a single postseason. The final out comes when Cardinals shortstop Edgar Renteria hits a chopper back to closer Keith Foulke, who easily underhands the throw to first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz, and Boston becomes the fourth team to sweep a series without having ever trailed in any of its four games.
  • 19 January 2007 - After nearly 14 years with the organization after being drafted in the first round of the 1993 amateur draft, free agent outfielder Trot Nixon signs a one-year deal with Cleveland.
