27 July 1935 - Lefty Grove hits a grand slam in a 7-6, extra-inning loss, one of only four Red Sox pitchers to hit a bases-loaded home run in club history.
16 April 1940 - Forty-year-old Lefty Grove pitches a two-hitter on Opening Day at Griffith Stadium in Washington as Boston wins, 1-0, Grove's last of 35 career shutouts.
