Series Synopsis
Boston extends its postseason dominance over the Angels franchise with a series sweep of Los Angeles, three games to none. Having swept the Angels, then known as the Anaheim Angels, in the 2004 ALDS, and won the last three games of the 1986 ALCS versus the California Angels, the Red Sox have won nine straight playoff games versus the Halos. Designated hitter David Ortiz bats .714 with two home runs and five RBI while teammate Manny Ramirez hits .375 with two homers and four runs driven home.
Series Highlight
In Game One at Fenway Park, 20-game winner Josh Beckett needs just two hours and 27 minutes to pitch his second straight postseason shutout, allowing just four hits while walking eight in a complete game effort, as Boston wins 4-0. After a leadoff single, he retires 19 straight batters before Angels outfielder Vladimir Guerrero snaps that streak with a seventh-inning single. On offense, first baseman Kevin Youkilis hits a home run in the first inning to give Beckett the only run he needs, and Ortiz tacks two more runs on the board in the third with a blast of his own. Third baseman Mike Lowell accounts for Boston's only other run with an RBI single, also in the third. Beckett had also won his last postseason start in the same manner, blanking the New York Yankees on five hits in the deciding game of the 2003 World Series, which earned him series MVP honors as a member of the Florida Marlins.

Series Synopsis
Down three games to one, Boston storms back to win the American League pennant against the Cleveland Indians. Josh Beckett wins Games One and Five, allowing just nine hits and three earned runs over 14 innings of work, to earn series MVP honors. Left fielder Manny Ramirez once more proves his value in the postseason, batting.409 with two home runs and 10 RBI, while first baseman Kevin Youkilis averages .500 at the plate, strokes three home runs, and drives home seven runs.
Series Highlight
Back in Boston down three games to two, the first three Red Sox batters reach base against 19-game winner Fausto Carmona, but the young Cleveland pitcher retires the next two batters and the home team appears to have squandered a chance to knock the Indians out of the game early. However, right fielder J.D. Drew saves the day when he drives a ball to deep center field that just clears the fence, given Boston an early 4-0 lead. Carmona lasts just two-plus, allowing seven earned, as the Sox build a 10-1 lead after three innings. The game ends in a 12-2 laugher in front of 37,163 at Fenway Park. Drew's play is later named the top moment in the 2007 postseason in MLB.com's annual The Year in Baseball awards, as voted on by the fans

Game 2: Boston Red Sox 2, Colorado Rockies 1
Game 3: Boston Red Sox 10, Colorado Rockies 5
Game 4: Boston Red Sox 4, Colorado Rockies 3
Series Synopsis
Boston wins its second World Series championship in four years with a four-game sweep of the surprising Colorado Rockies, who had won 22 of 23 straight games leading to the series. Mike Lowell is named series MVP, batting .400 with three doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and six runs pushed across the plate. Pitcher Josh Beckett also wins his fourth game of the postseason in Game One of the series.
Series Highlight
In Game Two at Fenway Park, Colorado takes a lead for the only time in the series with a run in the first inning off Boston starter Curt Schilling but, after failing to get a hit in the first three innings, the Red Sox score in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by catcher Jason Varitek and take the lead with a Lowell RBI double with two outs in the fifth. Schilling exits in the sixth and reliever Hideki Okajima holds the Rockies hitless for 2-1/3 innings. Jonathan Papelbon then pitches the last 1-1/3 innings for the save as Boston takes a 2-0 series lead.
