Owners and Team Presidents

Larry Lucchino, John Henry and Tom Werner

In the history of the Boston Red Sox, there have been 11 different majority owners. They are listed here in order of their first season as majority owner. John Henry, in partnership with Tom Werner, purchased the Boston Red Sox in 2002.

In most instances, the team president and the owner have been the same. With Henry’s purchase of the Red Sox in 2001, the responsibility of team president shifted to Larry Lucchino, who served from 2001 until 2015. The role is now held by Sam Kennedy.
