- 2 December 1963 - Boston drafts 18-year-old shortstop and future outfielder Reggie Smith from Minnesota.
- 18 September 1966 - Reggie Smith makes his major league debut for Boston, patrolling center field and batting lead off for the Red Sox in a 5-3 loss to the Angels at Fenway Park.
- 20 August 1967 - Reggie Smith becomes the first Red Sox player to hit home runs from both sides of the plate in a single game as Boston wins 12-2 in the opener of a doubleheader against the Angels at Fenway Park.
- 26 October 1973 - Rick Wise and Bernie Carbo are acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Reggie Smith and Ken Tatum.
