  • 26 February 2018 - The Red Sox sign J.D. Martinez to a five year, $110M contract, which allows him to opt out after two seasons. Although he has spent most of his career as an outfielder, the Red Sox plan to use him primarily as the designated hitter.
  • 20 May 2018 - Despite allowing 13 hits and at least one in every inning, Eduardo Rodriguez and three Red Sox relievers combine to shut out the Orioles 5-0 at Fenway Park. Baltimore leaves 14 men on base, while J.D. Martinez clubs two home runs and Andrew Benintendi adds a two-run bomb to pace the Boston offense.
  • 24 October 2018 - The Red Sox win Game Two of the World Series with a 4-2 win over the Dodgers at Fenway Park. David Price goes six innings and allows just two runs on three hits and three walks, while three relievers combine to retire the final nine batters. J.D.
