  • 28 September 1966 - Thirty-seven-year-old Dick Williams is hired as Boston's newest manager, replacing interim manager Pete Runnels after Billy Herman was fired on 08 September.
  • 23 September 1969 - Nearly two years after guiding the Red Sox to the pennant, manager Dick Williams is fired from his post and replaced by Eddie Popowski.
  • 3 December 2007 - Former manager Dick Williams is elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee. Williams, who led the "Impossible Dream" Red Sox team of 1967 to the World Series, is one of only two skippers to lead three different clubs to the Fall Classic, the others being the 1972 and 1973 Athletics and the 1984 Padres.
